Initial setup

Operational system

Ensure the installation of Debian 12 64-bit for optimal compatibility. A minimal configuration is sufficient, as the JeraSoft team will handle the installation of all necessary dependencies.

Disk partitioning

During disk partitioning, retain only the /boot and / partitions. Allocate the majority of the available space to the / partition to accommodate system requirements effectively.

Date and time

Configure NTPd synchronization for accurate date and time across all servers. It is strongly recommended to set the timezone for all involved servers to UTC at all times. If data retrieval in another timezone is necessary, you will be able leverage JeraSoft platform settings for the desired configuration.

Users

Create a dedicated user account jerasupport to streamline support and upgrade processes. It is essential to enable sudo privileges for the jerasupport user, allowing it to execute administrative commands when needed.

Simultaneously, it is advised to disable the root user entirely. Refer to the Security section for more information on this.

Network and firewall

Ensure the server has access to the public internet during the installation and configuration phase. After the installation is complete, review the suggested firewall configuration for implementation. Additionally, confirm that DNS is functional to facilitate seamless operation.
